Description:
This is an excellent example of the ingenuity and frugality of the Great Northern shops. They rebuilt older articulated 2-6-6-2's into powerful, superheated 2-8-2 Mikados like this one. Specs - class O-6, 56" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 28x32" cylinders, engine weight of 320,100 lb, tractive effort of 76,160 lb. No date was given for the photo so an approximate one was used.
