NKP 2-8-2 #512 - Nickel Plate Road
Description:
Built by Alco-Brooks in August of 1917, this powerful 2-8-2 Mikado served the New York, Chicago & St Louis (Nickel Plate) until retirement and being sold for scrap on December, 20, 1956 to the Luntz Iron & Steel Company. Specs - 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 24x32" cylinders, engine weight of 291,750 lb, tractive effort of 49,737 lb. The photo comes from the Howard W. Ameling collection.
