Title:
CS 2-8-2 #803 - Colorado & Southern
Description:
Nice rear shot of Colorado & Southern 2-8-2 Mikado #803 as it sat in an unidentified yard. Baldwin, built in January of 1911. Specs - serial #35897, class #-4a, 57" drivers, 26.5x30" cylinders, a 170 psi boiler pressure, 53,408 pounds of tractive effort and weighed 283,340 pounds. Later, they were upgraded with superheaters, the boiler pressure was increased to 200 psi, and Elesco feedwater heaters were added. Leased to the Burlington from 1933-1947. The loco was retired and sold for scrap in August of 1959 with the scrapper's torch hitting it in 1960. No date, location or photographer was given for this photo so approximates were used.

Description:
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad PMC ( Passenger Motor Car ) 9768 and Colorado & Southern Railway 2-8-2 803 at Cheyenne, Wyoming on November 29, 1957, photograph by Jim Ehernberger, duplicate slide by Al Chione, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 9768 was built by EMC-Pullman in October 1930 ( Shop No. 459 ) as a gas-electric, later rebuilt to a diesel-electric, sold for scrap in September 1966.

Description:
Fairly nice photo of the 1911 Baldwin Mikado #803. All five in the E-4 class was rebuilt by CS shops in 1925 with upgrade with Schmidt superheater and Elesco feedwater heaters and then reclassified as E-4-A. These were leased to the Burlington from 1933-1947 with retirement in 1960. Unknown photographer.

Description:
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 2-8-2 Class O-1-A 4978 and Colorado & Southern 2-8-2 Class O-4 807 at Denver, Colorado on October 22, 1958, photographer unknown, print by Gordon C. Bassett, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 4978 was built by Baldwin in September 19234 (c/n 56974), retired and donated to the city of Mendota in 1965. Number 807 was built by Baldwin in March 1919 as a USRA design heavy 2-8-2 and assigned CB&Q road number 5508 (c/n 51615) classed as O-4. It was sold to the C&S in 1957, renumbered 807, retired and sold for scrap in December 1960.
